We provide a private casual boat ride that you can accommodate a small group (2-6 people) and enjoy beautiful ocean view privately during your convenience, desirable reserved hours. The passenger safety is Captain John’s priority. Private sailing boat tour by a captain John who is the US Coast Guard Certified. You don’t need to worry about who will sail the boat.
All of our sea trips include a minimum 2-hour private boat tour with Captain John Kim at the helm. To further enhance your safety and amazing overall boating experience, all vessel operational costs (insurance/fuel), life jackets for passengers, and end of day clean-up costs are all included. A Bluetooth sound system will also be provided where you will be able to play music of your choice from your own smart phone or other compatible media device.

***The total balance of payment must be fully paid no later than 24 hours prior to the reservation date and time, either by Credit Card, PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo (Recipient Information will be given up on request).
No tour is “typical.” Every experience will be unique according to the weather, sea conditions, destinations, and our guest’s specific needs.
– Guests will meet up with Captain John in Long Beach, California with their reservations.
– Your private boat will leave from (and return to) the dock at Long Beach, California, sailing around Grissom Island and Long Beach Shoreline Marina for a minimum 2-hour boat trip. During the trip, your boat will anchor at various peaceful and scenic spots where you can enjoy amazing 360-degree ocean views. At these anchor points, you will have your own leisure time to enjoy a memorable picnic while seated on the boat’s outdoor deck, with your own music, and with the snacks/drinks you brought.
Yes. Private tours have no passenger age restrictions provided that all safety protocols are met. However, if anyone is under the age of 13, please do let us know in advance so that we can we prepare their life jackets beforehand.
*** The maximum number of passengers is 6 people (includes infant/children, per insurance policy rules & guidelines). This rule applies to all passengers without exception.
We will provide life jackets for passengers of all ages. Children 12 and under (infant) MUST WEAR A LIFE VEST AT ALL TIMES. However, if the infant is in a car seat or baby carrier, they are not required to wear one; however, we will still provide one on board, in the event that you would like to carry them.
Due to boat load safety concerns and the comfort of all guests, only ONE service dog (weighing under 20lbs) is allowed on board, and there will be a $100 fee applied without exception. The dog owner will be fully responsible for their pet’s safety and will at all times clean up after them.
All boat guests should arrive and check in at least 15 mins prior to the reservation time.
Yes, there is a toilet on the boat. Also, guests will be reminded to use the nearby public restrooms before setting sail, at the time of check-in.
Occasional decorative items
– Flowers,
– Less than 10 pcs of balloons with less than 3 feet length ties,
– Banners with 3 ft length ties or scotch tape are okay. NO heavy-duty adhesives are permitted. Size of the banner needs to be less than 5 ft long and 2 ft high.
– Storing and setting up of any decorative items near the captain’s area is strictly not permitted. This is to ensure that the captain is free from any and all distractions/obstructions so he is able to maintain the highest level of safety for his guests.
*** “CaptainJohnKim.Com” is not responsible for any decorative items that damaged/blown away by the wind.
For all our guests’ safety, smoking (including e-cigarettes) is strictly not permitted on the boat at any time.
– Changes anytime up to 24 hours in advance with a nominal $25 change fee.
– Cancellations can be made anytime up to 24 hours in advance with a $50 cancellation fee.
– Within 24 hours, no changes, no cancellations, and no refunds.
We will reschedule or refund 100% of your charter fee if at 8am on the day of your charter, the iPhone/Android Weather app says there is a 40% or higher chance of rain during the specific hours of your charter.
*** In the case of extreme weather such as thunder, lighting or heavy winds are present, the captain reserves the right to cancel the tour and will provide each passenger with a rain check for a future cruise at time of departure.
– Yes. Any and all passengers planning to consume alcohol on board the boat must be over the age of 21. Please, have your photo ID ready to show the captain before boarding.
– Bring your own ready to eat snack (No cookware or cooking appliances will be available). No glass plates and bowls are allowed; plastic is okay.
– Soft body coolers only. It is ok to bring your own alcoholic beverages on board the boat but limit of 2 drinks per person. – No hard alcohol, liquor or mixed alcoholic drinks are permitted aboard. Cleaning charges ($200) will be applied if boat is left messy with spills on the floor.
-Please bring an approved government photo ID to check in (e.g., a driver license), foods and beverages (no glass containers).
-You can bring sunscreen, hats, sunglasses, non-slip footwear, blankets, jackets, comfortable and appropriate clothing suitable for the day’s weather.
